Portfolio Reflections
Self-reflection is a critical key to any educator's life - so it is an important piece to the completion of this project. I decided to select the digital portfolio because I feel that it is the best way to showcase my skills and knowledge. In today's educational climate, knowing and understanding how to use and implement technological tools is vital. Our students' future careers are dependent on their success as individuals - and helping them prepare with technological skills is a huge asset.
The biggest realization I had during this entire project was how much I have accomplished in the last two years. To complete this portfolio, I was required to sift and sort through all of the literature pieces, videos, and projects I have completed during my Masters Degree to select what I wanted to showcase. It was an exciting adventure to read back through old papers and articles, remembering all the discussions and ideas surrounding them. The biggest struggle I had was working through and preparing the portfolio itself. It is hard work to create an online portfolio, especially one that houses so many artifacts! This process required a lot of organization, attention to details, and a significant amount of patience to complete.
I am proud of what I have accomplished. I wholeheartedly believe that my decision to go straight into my Masters after my undergraduate degree was worth every second of instruction. Armed with my current knowledge, tools, and skill sets, I feel I can provide additional insights into teaching that will not only help my students learn better, but will help me to be the best teacher I can possibly be.
